The Center for Corporate and Community Education (CCED) at MVCC is the Mohawk Valley’s first choice for education, personal enrichment, and professional development. CCED is committed to providing a comprehensive array of programs and services that meet the needs of all members of the community by providing opportunities for individual growth, employee skill upgrades, entrepreneur development, customized corporate training, and more. From training sessions that serve individuals seeking to expand their strengths, to intensive workforce development programs that support major career shifts, CCED provides top-quality programs and services to help community members achieve their goals. Programs are available at our Utica and Rome campuses, online, at client training sites, and a variety of locations throughout the community for people of all ages seeking flexible learning options. Customized Training and Workforce Development

CCED provides agile customized training options to local employers to help retrain and retain individuals. In addition, CCED offers flexible workforce development trainings and certificates to meet the diverse needs of our community. Topics include:

Advanced Institute for Manufacturing (AIM)

The Advanced Institute for Manufacturing (AIM) is a non-profit manufacturing consulting organization that has been designated as the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center for the Mohawk Valley Region. AIM offers training and manufacturing certification programs in Process Improvement, Quality Management Systems, Safety Training, Food Safety Planning, Strategic Business Services, Sales and Marketing Training, Environmental Compliancy, Design and Prototyping, and Cybersecurity and Customized Workforce Development programs. AIM provides these services to the manufacturers in the six-county Mohawk Valley Region, including Oneida, Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, and Otsego Counties.

Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE)

The Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) is a partnership between MVCC and Leadership Mohawk Valley — creating an innovative and high-impact center to address the region’s need for effective, equipped, and engaged leaders and supervisors. CLE includes six distinct programs: Leadership Mohawk Valley, Leadership Academy, Supervisors Institute, Neighborhoods Rising, and Board Leadership.

Ways to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma

GED is New York State’s national high school equivalency assessment exam. The exam measures five subject areas including: reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. MVCC offers classes to help students prepare for the GED exam. Class locations vary. GED testing is available in the Testing Center on the Utica Campus. College for Kids and Teens

Through the College for Kids and Teens, youth of all ages can enrich their education, explore a career, and experience a college setting through a variety of programs, including summer and school break career camps, parent and child classes, literacy and STEM courses, and exam prep classes. CCED is also the home of the FIRST® Tech Challenge Robotics program, providing STEAM education opportunities for youth, and robotics competitions throughout the state.

Leisure Learning, Health and Wellness, and Aquatics Programming

These non-credit classes offer the Mohawk Valley community new skills through fun and exciting courses that are hands-on and educational. Programs such as exercise, art, languages, personal safety, and dance are available days and evenings, in-person or remote. The MVCC pool is home to swimming lessons for kids, adult water exercise, aquatic training programs, and Open Swim. Community members may purchase pool passes online or by visiting or calling the CCED office. Day passes can be purchased at the pool. Regular Open Swim hours are posted online and at the pool.   Call for details.

Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement (MVILR)

CCED is partnered with the Mohawk Valley Institute for Learning in Retirement to help the non-profit organization continue providing learning opportunities to retirees in the community, an endeavor MVILR has been undertaking for more than 20 years. MVILR offers its programs, speakers, and courses on MVCC’s Rome Campus five days per week either in-person or virtually. Facilitated by volunteers, members, and guest professionals, this programming promotes personal development and lifelong learning in a variety of subjects, including art, music, literature, philosophy, technology, computer applications, and physical and social sciences.
